Commercial Voiceover Intensive

Join L.A.-based VO artist Kevin Delaney for this in-studio exploration of the exciting (and lucrative) world of voice acting for radio and TV commercials!

Kevin will share all of his tips, tricks,
tactics and techniques, all with one goal in mind: to help you book paying commercial VO gigs.

Some of the topics we'll cover:

· The principle of VARIETY, and why it's essential to great commercial reads

· How to play off of a partner to create dynamic contrast

· How to prepare a piece of copy so your audition will shine

· Why you should treat your slate as part of your audition

· Why the first line of an audition is the most important

· Common mistakes VO actors make that keep them from booking the job

· What should — and should not — go on a commercial voiceover demo

A highly interactive, in-studio experience, you'll work on mic with 100% authentic commercial copy, getting expert direction and feedback from Kevin.

All of our work will be recorded, and you'll get your tracks as MP3 files following the session.

SPACE IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. To keep the session intimate, only eight people will be able to participate.

WORKSHOP #2:
Creating Unforgettable Characters
Mr. Smalls Studio, North Side
Sunday, November 8
1-6 p.m.

Kevin will teach you his dynamic methods for bringing character voices indelibly to life!

We'll work with real copy from animation & video games. Kevin will show you how to mine a script for maximum possibilities, how to create facets for a character, and how to employ humor to make your performances truly unforgettable!

You'll learn:

· Why you have to BE a cartoon to play a cartoon

· Serious animation vs. wacky, comedic characters

· The all-important role of PHYSICALIZING, and why it's essential

· How to slate your auditions so they love you right off the bat

· When (and when not) to improvise

· Why your initial instincts about a part are usually right

· How to construct a character voice demo that will knock their socks off!

All of our work will be recorded, and you'll get your tracks as MP3 files following the session.
